The ambition for TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht is to create the most culturally vibrant quarter in the Netherlands that can constantly innovate, interact and connect disciplines 24/7. Supervised by NOAHH, the project quickly became a platform for new types of usage and events – while also resorting the original identity of the existing main hall. TivoliVredenburg aims to be a flexible instrument for both artists and a large variety of people –adapting to the constant cultural and musical mutations and breathing the concept of flexibility. TivoliVredenburg must be both a cultural actor and a cultural vector. The interspace and its immediate environment are very important in this: all space should be accessible to the public and become a platform for its users. TivoliVredenburg wants to create a new model – a cultural instrument and a music building in motion, reflected in a distinct and facilitating architectural design in symbiosis with its new context and the existing city; an instrument that is destined to bring a broad and varied audience into contact with contemporary culture and music, and to inspire that audience at the same time. The broad concert and night programme now attracts a range of audiences to all venues. In addition to these successes, TivoliVredenburg sees room for expanding the use of the building. There is room for more encounters and liveliness in foyers and in-between spaces that should spill out into the surrounding streets too. Additionally, TivoliVredenburg has the ambition to restore the original identity of the Main Hall.
TivoliVredenburg heeft de ambitie om de meest culturele, levendige plek van Nederland te zijn en wil voortdurend vernieuwen, interageren en 24/7 verbinden: het project laat zien hoe het gebouw snel een platform werd voor nieuwe soorten gebruik en evenementen. NOAHH superviseert op dit proces. TivoliVredenburg wil een flexibel platform zijn voor zowel kunstenaars als een grote verscheidenheid aan mensen en zich aanpassen aan de constante culturele en muzikale mutaties waarbij ze conceptueel flexibel wil zijn; TivoliVredenburg moet zowel een culturele actor als een culturele vector zijn. De tussenruimte en zijn directe omgeving zijn hierbij van groot belang: alle ruimte moet toegankelijk zijn voor het publiek en hen een platform bieden. TivoliVredenburg wil heel duidelijk een nieuw model aannemen, dat van een cultureel instrument als een muziekgebouw in beweging, vervat in een onderscheidende en faciliterende architectuur in symbiose met zijn nieuwe context en de bestaande stad. Een instrument dat is bedoeld om een breed en gevarieerd publiek niet alleen in contact te brengen met hedendaagse cultuur en muziek, maar ook om dat publiek te inspireren. Het brede concert- en nachtprogramma trekt nu talloze soorten publiek naar alle de diverse zalen en tussenruimten. Naast dit succes ziet TivoliVredenburg ruimte voor verdere uitbreiding van het gebruik van het gebouw. Ze wil hierbij verder open en uitnodigend zijn en hiermee de omliggende straten katalyseren en betrekken. Tegelijkertijd wil TivoliVredenburg de oorspronkelijke identiteit van de Grote Zaal herstellen.
