About This Project

The Zaan Corridor – a series of characteristic open landscapes and buildings around stations – threatens to choke. Clear limits are needed to prevent to stop themany village expansions. In addition to the suburbs of Amsterdam, the reclaimed land around twincity Alkmaar – Heerhugowaard are the Fields of Chances to the Zaan Corridor. There is room for the growth which in the open countryside is no longer possible. In this polder of reclaimed land each plot can have its own distinctive character and can be considered an individual develpment. To actually use the opportunities we present in this pioneer town Heerhugowaard a new type of station. This innovative station is not a monumental building but an open structure with impact on a larger part of the city. The station design invites to mixed use, which at rush hours implicates in a better use of the transport capacity. The new station type allows to develop very well in a step by step strategy, a strategy that could also lead to new opportunities elsewhere.
